RORY PECK AWARDS 2004 Sponsored by Sony A year of growth... The Rory Peck Awards were established to raise money for the Trust, and to provide a showcase for the work of freelance cameramen and camerawomen. This year we have made a particular effort to emphasise even more than usual, the importance of their work. For the Trust it has been a year of growth and change: we have expanded our work overseas and provided grants to help 49 beneficiaries in 21 countries. Much of this expansion has been the direct result of funding provided by The Sigrid Rausing Trust. Its a particular satisfaction that this funding has been renewed for a second year. Three long-standing Trustees, Vin Ray, Sue Inglish and Vaughan Smith, have stepped down. Each has made a significant contribution to the Trust over many years and we are sorry to see them go. We have been fortunate to find new trustees to strengthen our board: Tira Shubart (a freelance producer), Sarah Ward-Lilley (BBC News), Adrian Wells (Sky News) and Janice Vernon-Smith (a consultant in the not-for-profit sector). In the year ahead, we are hoping to continue both our fund-raising activities and our expansion. At the same time it is becoming increasingly urgent that we raise sufficient money to cover our essential running costs. The success of the Awards ceremony relies on so many people: Sony, who sponsor the event, APTN who support this brochure, the production team, and all those who provide technical support, equipment and other help. And of course finally it relies on you: our audience of supporters and friends. By buying tickets and contributing in so many other ways you all help make our work possible. Bob Jobbins
