José Couzo Permuy 1965 - 2003
¿ Sabes Jose? In memory of José Couso Permuy, killed on 8 April 2003, when an US Army tank fired at the Palestine Hotel, Baghdad. Te han matado pero a la vez estás vivo. José Couso Permuy would have turned 38 on 5 October 2003. He was married with two sons, aged six and three. One of the best cameramen working for newsgathering at Telecinco, he had worked for Agencia EFE, Europa Press, ETB covering stories such as the crisis of the inspectors in Baghdad, the Balkan conflict, the Hesperides in the Antarctic. Neither reckless nor a kamikaze, Jose Couzo did not look for money or fame. He was a very responsible person, serious about his work and his own safety. He just wanted to be there, with his camera, wherever injustices were happening - to be the eyes for all of us who were not there, so that we could see it for ourselves.
