Working alone for four months in the Sunni Triangle of Iraq, Sean Paul Langan spent time with US soldiers on patrol, filmed the first in-depth interviews both with Iraqi insurgents and outside Abu Ghraib prison detailing allegations of torture and abuse three months before they were revealed in the West.
Cameraman's Comment Using a video-diary style and spending longer in the field, Sean Paul Langan says “I am able to get better access than if I was with a larger crew… people find a single camera-operator less threatening in my experience…as a single operator cameraman, I simply hold my camera at arms-length when I want to shoot myself talking rubbish.” BiographySean PaulLangan’s credits include Nightmare in Paradise (BBC2, 1998), a three-part series about his search for kidnapped hostages in Kashmir; Langan Behind The Lines (BBC2, 2001), a five-part series which included the first in-depth look at life under the Taliban, ‘Langan in Zimbabwe’ (BBC2, 2002), an undercover report on political violence in Zimbabwe. In 2004 he filmed ‘Travels with a Gringo' in Mexico, 3 x 60 mins, series for Channel 4. |
