The Rory Peck Training Fund

More than 100 media workers were killed in 2001. The demand for safety training is greater than ever and increasingly so from overseas freelancers. Since it began two years ago, the Rory Peck Training Fund has enabled 72 freelancers to undertake Hostile Environment Training. They have come from Australia, Canada, Germany, Greece, India, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kashmir, Kosovo, Norway, Peru, Poland, South Africa, Spain, UK and the USA.

We were particularly pleased to support an IFJ initiative, the Safety Training Workshop for Afghan Journalists held in Peshawar last January. The Fund's contribution enabled freelance Afghan journalists to participate on the course, which was run by AKE Ltd.
