A Trust Tale…
Not a lot of people know this.
One rainy night in November 1997, two Peters sat in a London pub brooding over the future of the charity they had helped to found. In its first three years, supported by Sony but with minimal resources, the Rory Peck Trust had done groundbreaking work and was beginning to achieve respect in the TV newsgathering industry. Now it was time both to consolidate and perhaps develop. Did the Rory Peck Trust have a future? Did it have 'legs'?
That night, Trustees Peter Henderson and Peter Jouvenal decided that it did - and pledged their wholehearted support. They have both worked hard for the Trust ever since.
Now, sadly for us, Peter Henderson is moving to Kenya with his family. We'll miss his hands-on approach as a Trustee, and his consistently positive, encouraging and humorous approach to life. However, it is Peter's much more substantial support for the Trust that really deserves recognition. When it mattered most, the sponsorship of the Rory Peck Awards first by Newsforce and then by TVnewsweb enabled the Trust both to survive and grow.
Now Chairman of TVZ.tv, Peter insists that moving will in no way change his feelings or commitment to the Trust. "As I will not be residing in the UK my legal obligations will be hard to fulfil and anyway I think it is always good to have fresh blood. I am extremely proud of the Trust, have enjoyed being part of it and look forward to watching it go from strength to strength. I would like to remain involved (if you want me) as a committee member..."
