KAVEH GOLESTAN 2 April 2003
Acclaimed for his work during the Iranian Revolution and the gassing of the Kurds in the 1988 Iran-Iraq War, Kaveh had worked for the BBC in a freelance capacity for about three years, becoming the BBC's contract cameraman in Tehran, Iran in September 2000, and had worked for many western news organisations. Jim Muir, the BBC correspondent with Kaveh said, "Kaveh is now at peace, and life will of course go on, but ours will not be the same without him. He was unique and irreplaceable. His energy, artistry, enthusiasm, sensitivity, courage and mischievous humour were only part of a complex, charming and gentle character who engaged all he met." He leaves a wife, Hengameh, and a 19-year-old son, Mehrak.
