Letter from Paddington

‘I haven’t really got the right kind of footage’

‘I’ve nothing to enter – I haven’t got much hard news this year’

‘Actually I’ve done some interesting work, but it’s been documentary’

As many of you know, July and August usually finds me on the phone, hassling everyone about entries for the Rory Peck Award. Last year, it became clear that some freelancers were ruling themselves out of entering. This seemed to be a waste of a unique opportunity as the Rory Peck Award is, in effect, the only freelancers’ showcase in the world. Therefore, in order to reflect the full range of freelance work, the Award has now been extended. There is also one very special new Award. I leave it to the Chairman, Lucian Hudson to tell you all about it.

Don’t miss ‘Whose News Is It Anyway?’ our first joint Open Forum with Bafta on April 29th. Come along and ask the questions that need to be asked!

Finally, we are very happy to continue our relationship with Panasonic Broadcast Europe via their sponsorship of The Free Lens.

Meanwhile..... take care out there.
