Research Project:
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

The Trust is participating in a research project being undertaken by the University of Toronto, led by Dr. Anthony Feinstein. The purpose of the research is to get a better understanding of how journalists may be affected psychologically by their work in war zones. The impetus for the research has come from a realisation that the nature of conflict has changed over the past decade, become increasingly violent and more dangerous to report. While the risks associated with the profession are increasingly obvious, what is less clear is how journalists cope with the stress and danger of their job. The proposed study is the first attempt to explore some of these issues in detail and thus has the potential to shed light on an important topic that has until now, received little attention.
