Insurance - Progress Report

In May this year, a working group consisting of members of the Rory Peck Trust committee and representatives of five insurers met together in a round-table discussion held at the Freedom Forum. The aim of this meeting, chaired by RPT Trustee Vaughan Smith, was to thrash out obstacles and lay down some common ground rules. The meeting was constructive and a draft insurance template was agreed on.
The Trust's aim is to establish an industry standard policy for freelancers. Although the draft template takes us a considerable way forward, we will need time, thought - and much industry feedback from freelancers, broadcasters and editors.

In the first instance therefore, we hope to soon be able to offer freelancers a choice of approved insurance providers who offer policies that conform to the Trust's brief of accessibility, affordability and flexibility.
