From the Chairman, The Rory Peck Trust
owever, it is also clear that in order to secure the future of our work and operations, we must establish a more stable funding base and raise awareness of the Trust. There is little doubt that there are still many people who could benefit from our work. In the developing world, where they really need our support, they simply don't know about us yet. This May, I have been invited to chair a session on Safety in the Field at NewsWorld Asia in Singapore. This is central to our work, and will give me an ideal opportunity to develop contacts with local broadcasters and freelancers. I am really looking forward to working with the Trust, and hope that my experiences both as a correspondent, and as an editor, will enable me to make a real contribution to its work. Bob Jobbins Bob has a 30 year career in news broadcasting, both as a correspondent in the field and as a top manager. Currently Director of English Networks and News at BBC World Service, he was in involved in the launch of World Service Television (now BBC World), and its parallel Arabic Channel. He was responsible for the production of all news and information programming for BBC World Service Radio and Television. |
