From the Chairman

I am delighted to announce that for the next three years, in an exclusive deal, the Rory Peck Awards will be sponsored by Sony Broadcast and Professional Europe. As many of you will recall, Sony supported the Trust from its very inception, sponsoring the first three years of the Awards and enabling the Trust to find its niche in the world of newsgathering and thus begin its charitable work. The renewed support of Sony is a wonderful vote of confidence which will enable the Trust to benefit from a period of stability, during which our energies can be used to establish a secure funding base for the development of our charitable work internationally and for our future operations.

Over this period, we would not have survived without the support of Newsforce and then TVnewsweb, who have generously agreed to step aside so that we can benefit from this new situation. The Trust cannot thank them enough. We owe a big vote of thanks to our director, Tina Carr, because without her efforts, this deal would not have happened. She re-opened the dialogue with Sony this year and led the negotiations.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank APTN for once again sponsoring the Awards brochure - a contribution of considerable value - and Broadcast for their support with distribution and publicity. A special thanks to News World (see report) for providing us with an international platform at News World Asia, and again to TVnewsweb for giving us working space in Singapore.
